Man! where does the time go! It's been 3 1/2 weeks in Canby and I STILL haven't had time to move in! It's very fast paced here. there's always something to be doing. I love the members here in Canby though! they are all VERY willing to help out with the work. We had a member give us 3 referrals last night and the missionaries have been in fairly constant contact with him for years! I think it's honestly because the ward trusts the new string of missionaries here.
There have been so many miracles this last week.
On Tuesday night we were stopping in at the church for a bathroom break at 8:30 Pm and we found a less active priest there with 3 of his nonmember friends playing basketball. so after we relieved ourselves we took off our jackets, rolled up our sleeves, loosened our ties a bit and played some ball for a little while. MAN can Elder Hendrickson play ball! I can't play hardly at all and they made me guard him. ha ha. It was so much fun though. We've been trying to get that priest to come out with us for a while, and he loves hanging out with us now.
We had a less active couple that we've been working with accept to have us come over twice a week now. Once to read from the Book of Mormon and try to understand it better and once for the regular lessons. this last sunday the parents received a calling as ward missionaries and they are pumped! they are really stoked about getting to go through the temple together to be sealed sometime in the near future. Their last name is L.and they are on fire. They seem to be our connection with every young person in Canby since they've been here since childhood. that's one thingI've noticed about oregon... people don't move around very often. They kinda just stay in one city for most of their lives. It was even more so that way in west Linn it seemed.
We set a date with the husband of a less active member for December 7th and he came to church! It was huge celebration because he came by himself and the kids. His wife works on Sunday, and his parents are ministers at a 4 square church near West Linn so there were some hesitancies in his choice to come to church. His wife is also on fire! She told us this last week that she feels like she never wants to put the Book of Mormon down because of the way it makes her feel. That's the best thing a missionary could ever hear :D
This last week was full of meetings... tons of meetings, but all of our organization really paid off. I think the stake presidency was positively influenced by how detailed our presentation was at SPC yet simple at the same time. I learned from my last area and started using charts to present the data. It was great.
I love this work with all my heart! I hope that I can always do missionary work because I couldn't imagine my life without being able to share the gospel with the people that I care about. It has blessed my life so much that I just can't contain it.
I love you all! gtg!
